Who We Are:

EDGE Training and Placement, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3  comprehensive youth program assisting youth in rebuilding their lives through training and education.  We believe you must have discipline  in order to grow.  Because leadership qualities will be instilled in the students from the beginning it is important that a structured format of discipline be enforced.

Our Mission & Impact:

EDGE's mission is to offer Durham's at risk and out of school youth the opportunity to engage in growth critical to success and professional development and to learn new ways to manage their life, work and education through moral and ethical principles.

EDGE  has innovative teaching strategies and curriculum to make school more relevant and engaging.  The students have strong relationships with the teachers, staff and the other students.  The parents are exepected to communicate with the school regularly and EDGE will  encourage healthy communication between the parents and students.

EDGE Purpose is to:

1. Increase opportunities for out-of-school youth ages 16 and over to attain their GED and engage them in  personal development and growth critical to success in work and in life.

2.  Produce a positive learning environment that accelerates education outcomes with teaching centered on discipline and individual needs.

3.  Offer techniques through instruction that addresses low self-esteem, self-destructive behavior and negative influences.

4.  Prepare participants for economic independence and self- sufficiency by helping them continue their education and secure meaningful employment.

A Story from the EDGE...

EDGE has been great help in my life. As a matter of fact EDGE has saved my life. I probably would be in jail or probably still running the streets. Getting my GED has been such a great accomplishment in my life. Edge has turned my life around. I never had college aspirations, but thanks to Ms. Fran, I will be attending college in the fall.

If I wouldn't have received my diploma from EDGE, I would not get a good job and I will probably struggle for the rest of my life. I probably would have been just another negative statistic in America.

My life is going in a positive direction every since EDGE. I have to give props to Ms. Fran because this is a non-profit organization and she has put her all into the program, that's why I put everything into the program. (Travis M.)
